Scout’s “Wake Up Tired” Fix: 10 Minutes to Feel Human

Scout here 🐐⛰️

Waking up tired isn’t always about “not enough sleep.”

Sometimes it’s:

  • poor sleep quality
  • dehydration
  • waking into stress immediately
  • no daylight exposure
  • coffee too early or too much
  • under-fueling until late morning

So here’s your rule:

Don’t start the day in survival mode. Start it in Base Camp mode.

The Scout Rule: Your first 10 minutes decides your energy curve

Not perfectly. But consistently.

So we run a short “wake-up script” that signals:

  • safety
  • movement
  • daylight
  • fuel is coming

That combination changes the whole day.

The 10-Minute “Wake Up Tired” Fix (set a timer)

Minute 0–2: Water first

Drink 12–16 oz water.
Add electrolytes if you wake up “dry tired.”

(Internal link: Blog #26.)

Minute 2–5: Get light on your face

  • open blinds
  • step outside for 60–120 seconds if possible
  • look toward daylight (don’t stare at the sun)

Why: daylight is your body’s “wake-up button.”

Minute 5–8: Move your body (gentle counts)

Pick one:

  • 3 minutes walking
  • 20 squats + wall pushups
  • stretch + shoulder rolls
  • stairs for 1–2 minutes

Scout tip: You’re not working out. You’re switching systems on.

Minute 8–10: Protein plan (just decide it)

Choose one:

  • Greek yogurt + fruit
  • eggs
  • protein shake
  • leftovers (yes)

If you don’t decide, you’ll end up with coffee + chaos.

Coffee timing (so it helps instead of hurts)

You don’t have to stop drinking coffee.
Just do this:

  • water first
  • ideally coffee 60–120 minutes after waking
  • pair coffee with protein within 1–2 hours

(Internal link: Blog #14.)

If you wake up anxious

Use the mini reset:

  • shoulders down
  • inhale 4 / exhale 6 for 6 rounds
    Then do water + light.

The “Wake Up Tired” causes checklist (quick)

If this is happening often, check:

  • bedtime too late / inconsistent (Sleep Camp #3)
  • caffeine too late (Blog #14)
  • late-night snacking (Blog #18)
  • second wind at night (Sleep Camp #6)
  • dehydration (Blog #26)

You don’t need to fix everything today.
Start with the 10-minute fix.

You don’t need to “feel motivated” to feel better.
You need a morning script you can repeat.

Water. Light. Move. Protein. Then coffee.
